WordTracker - Word Tracker (http://www.wordtracker.com ) is
of of several paid online services that provide information about the frequency of
searches for different keywords, as well as suggestions for similar keywords. Wordtracker has a
free keyword suggestion service as well, with
limited capabilities. Google's Adwords provides a similar
free
service here: https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal , and Overture used to provide such a service but no longer does.
Yahoo! apparently provides search statistics for their ad
customers.
Wordtracker also offers a paid service that makes it easy to find the
niche for your Web page by showing you
suggested keyword variations, and the value of the KEI - Keyword Effectiveness Algorithm,
which is based on the ratio of number of searches for a keyword to the number of Web pages that are your potential
competition.
Wordtracker was created by Andy and Mike Mindel in 1997.
Wordtracker collects keyword queries from Dogpile and Metacrawler, which get about 1% of Web searches. Therefore, the
number of searches for a keyword is relatively small and is not indicative of true search volume. For low volume keywords, the
relative rank of a keyword may be very different in Wordtracker and Google
or Yahoo! or there may be no data.

Optimization terms are based on inferences from common usage and definitions given by other sources. Conclusions about
search engine behavior are based on understanding of the behavior of the most popular search engines. Both are subject
to error or may change. Search engine company management may define or use a term or set or change any policy in any way
they see fit, and may make these definitions and specifications public or not. These decisions and definitions are
