Google Sandbox - The sandbox is the nickname given to the probationary period for new Web sites and
domains that Google instituted apparently after the Bourbon update. It is intended to discourage spammers, by giving
lower positioning to pages than they would deserve based on their PageRank and perhaps by giving no PageRank to main
pages of a Web site for a period that can vary from 90 days to half a year depending on the content of the site.
Though Google initially denied that the sandbox exists, Google officials reportedly admitted it in 2005. As reported
here.
Matt Cutts of Google reportedly said, "OK, so it it's really working." Other comments confirmed that some mechanism
exists for penalizing newer Web sites and or pages that are not trusted.
Note - Definitions of Search Engine
Optimization terms are based on inferences from common usage and definitions given by other sources. Conclusions about
search engine behavior are based on understanding of the behavior of the most popular search engines. Both are subject
to error or may change. Search engine company management may define or use a term or set or change any policy in any way
they see fit, and may make these definitions and specifications public or not. These decisions and definitions are
beyond our control. Notice: Copyright
