Click Popularity - The number of times that a particular page listed for a keyword is clicked.
Click popularity is supposedly used by at least some
search engines (eg MSN live) to determine page position for a given keyword
in search engine results.
Briefly, to the extent that a search engine uses click popularity to position pages, it is
inviting invalid or self-perpetuating results, since the top positioned pages will always get more links.
If you can influence page position in search results by clicking a link a few times, then that
page is not very popular or the search engine is not very popular. A top ranked link in Google for a popular keyword
might get half a million clicks a month or more. You would need to click another link a great many times to compete with
that.
You could write a script to click the link, but that is Black Hat SEO. Click popularity algorithms probably check if all the clicks are coming from the same URL, and they also protect the server from denial of service attacks by
"throttling" clicks that come too frequently from the same address.
See extensive discussion of this idea here: Clicking a link helps
search engine positioning (click popularity)?.

Note - Definitions of Search Engine
Optimization terms are based on inferences from common usage and definitions given by other sources. Conclusions about
search engine behavior are based on understanding of the behavior of the most popular search engines. Both are subject
to error or may change. Search engine company management may define or use a term or set or change any policy in any way
they see fit, and may make these definitions and specifications public or not. These decisions and definitions are
beyond our control. Notice: Copyright
