Search Engine Optimization

Absolute Link

Absolute Link

Absolute Link - An absolute path or full path link. It specifies the entire URL address.

For example: - SEO Glossary as opposed to a relative link

SEO Glossary. The advantage of the absolute link is that it is supposedly followed better by search engines. This may result in faster registration in search engines, but not necessarily in higher positioning. It seems to be important for image listings.

The advantage of the relative link is that it makes the Web site portable to a different domain if so desired.
