Duplicate content is content that precisely or nearly replicates content at another Web site or Web
page. Duplicate content is created very often by bloggers and Web forum denizens who re-post entire articles verbatim.
Google and other search engines may or may not show such duplicate pages. If there are a great
many of them, Google will display a notice like this one:
In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the 3 already
displayed. If you like, you can repeat the search with the omitted results included.
But even if the user clicks the link [inoperative in the above] Google may still omit many of the
pages. A Web site with a great many such pages may lose some pagerank.
Duplicating content is probably not going to do much harm if you are submitting an original
article to several Web sites with a link back to your original article. It is still a good idea to change the title and
some of the wording in the different variants. Submitting articles with links to Web sites that republish such content
for the purpose of raising the search engine positioning of your Web site might help you, especially if the articles
include embedded contextual links to pages in your Web site.
